Pedro Harres

Pedro Harres is a director, animator, screenwriter and multimedia artist born in Porto Alegre and based in Berlin. His oeuvre encompasses a wide range of formats, from animation to fiction; traditional screen to VR; as well as interactive installations. He holds a BA in Cinema (UNISINOS - Brazil); a BA in Philosophy (UFRGS - Brazil); and a MA in Directing Animation aka Animationsregie (Babelsberg Film Universitaet Konrad Wolf - Germany). His animated short film Castillo y el Armado has amassed 55 awards/mentions and an Oscar qualification in the film festival circuit worldwide. From The Main Square was his master thesis and debut in virtual reality. It is arguably the most awarded narrative VR-piece to be premiered in 2022, this includes the Venice Immersive Grand Jury Prize at the 79th Venice International Film Festival and the Grand Prix at New Images, in Paris. Recently, he was a member of the jury at the Venice and Thessaloniki international film festivals.
